Frequently Asked Questions
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.
What's unique about Bringing Home Baby?
At Bringing Home Baby, we go above and beyond to ensure your family receives the highest level of care. Unlike traditional babysitting or newborn care services, our team is made up exclusively of Registered Nurses who bring both medical knowledge and compassionate support to your home.
Each of our RNs:
- Holds a college nursing degree with specialized experience in newborn care.
- Is Infant CPR certified to provide immediate response in emergencies
- Has successfully passed a comprehensive criminal background check
This is our commitment—expert newborn care, delivered with compassion—so you can feel confident, supported, and at peace during this special season of life.
How long and often should I hire a night nurse for?
At Bringing Home Baby, we want our services to fit seamlessly into your family’s needs and routine. That’s why we don’t require a minimum or maximum number of nights—you have complete flexibility to decide what works best for you.
Many families find it helpful to spread out support over time rather than booking consecutive nights. For example, instead of five nights a week for three weeks, you might choose three nights a week for five weeks. This approach maximizes your care, extends the length of support, and ensures you have professional help during those especially challenging weeks of adjustment.
Whether you need just a few nights of rest or ongoing support, our night nurses are here to give you peace of mind and the restorative sleep you deserve.
Do you offer care during the daytime as well?
Our primary focus is on overnight newborn care, but we understand that families sometimes need extra support during the day, too. While nighttime care is most common, we do have several nurses in each market who are available to accommodate daytime hours upon request.
If daytime care better suits your family’s needs, let us know—we’ll do our best to match you with a nurse who can provide the same compassionate, professional support during the day.
How will my baby be fed throughout the night?
Your nurse will happily support your feeding preferences.
If you plan to breastfeed, your nurse will fully support your feeding routine. When it’s time for a feeding, your nurse can either bring the baby to you or gently wake you to come to the nursery—whichever you prefer.
Some moms also choose to pump breast milk for bottle feedings, allowing the nurse to handle overnight feedings so you can get a longer stretch of uninterrupted rest. The choice is always yours, and we’ll work with you to create a nighttime plan that best supports both you and your baby.
If you choose to use formula, your nurse will wash, prepare, and sanitize bottles during their shift. This way, you wake up to a stocked and clean feeding station, giving you more time to rest and bond with your baby.
How will I know what my baby ate, when my baby ate, diaper changed, etc.?
To keep you fully informed, each nurse uses an Activity Log to carefully document your baby’s care throughout the shift. This includes details such as:
- Feeding times and amounts
- Diaper changes
- Sleep stretches
- Any notes about soothing or special care
At the end of every shift, your nurse will leave the completed log with you so you can review exactly how your baby’s night went. This way, you’ll wake up feeling rested and confident that you know every detail of your little one’s care.
What hours do your nurses typically work?
Our nurses typically provide overnight care from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, giving parents the chance to get a full night’s rest. We also do our best to accommodate special requests, as we know every family’s needs are unique.
On your first night, your nurse will arrive about 30 minutes early to get acquainted with your home, learn your baby’s feeding schedule and routine, and answer any questions—ensuring you feel comfortable and confident before you head off to sleep.
How do I pay my nurse?
At Bringing Home Baby, you don’t need to worry about handling direct payments to your nurse—we take care of that for you. Our billing week runs Saturday through Friday, and you’ll receive a single, itemized bill at the end of each week for the services provided. A receipt will be issued for every payment, ensuring transparency and peace of mind.
This system allows you to focus on rest and recovery, while we handle the details behind the scenes.
Please note:
While our nurses are highly trained and experienced, Bringing Home Baby is not a medical home health service and does not provide medical treatment.
Our role is to provide compassionate, non-medical newborn and postpartum support. For medical concerns, you will always be referred back to your healthcare provider or encouraged to call 911 in emergency situations.
